Kati Katona is a new media artist and designer based in Budapest, Hungary. Her practice spans generative and 3D animation, interactive installations, projection mapping, and immersive environments, often drawing inspiration from natural phenomena, biomorphic structures, patterns, and algorithmic processes.

A central aspect of her research is the perception of space and the ways in which digital technologies can transform the relationship between the viewer and the surrounding environment. Through immersive and interactive works, Katona investigates how images can extend beyond the conventional frame and become spatial experiences, creating environments in which physical and digital dimensions coexist and influence one another.

Her installations frequently establish an evolving relationship between artwork, space, and audience. Interactivity becomes a means of exploring how presence, movement, scale, and perspective affect perception, while generative processes allow visual environments to develop as dynamic systems rather than fixed compositions.

Her work has been exhibited at venues including Kanvas Dubai, Cinema Mystica, and Light Art Museum Budapest. As a visual artist, she has performed at international audiovisual festivals including Live Cinema Festival, Patchlab Festival, and LPM – Live Performers Meeting. Her works have also been presented within major international events including Vivid Sydney, Zsolnay Light Festival, White Night Melbourne, and Ghent Light Festival, as well as the Free Fire Guinness World Record event in Las Vegas.

Since 2016, Katona has participated in numerous large-scale artistic projects, continually incorporating emerging technologies into her practice. Across installations, performances, and immersive works, her research explores the increasingly fluid boundaries between image and architecture, physical and digital space, and observation and participation.
