"Protist Rhapsody" is an immersive full-dome experience,
capturing an ongoing real-time computational experiment in digital matter and artificial life.
Driven by Uncharted Limbo's custom algorithm, the Protist's behavior goes beyond the archetypical Physarum simulation, incorporating macroscopic agent-like behaviours and global shape control.
A digital entity emerges, mirroring the dynamics of slime mold, while caught in a struggle between its instinctive drives and the forces of its environment.
The piece traces a brief life cycle of Birth, Destruction, and Resurrection of the digital organism, offering a meditative reflection on the fragile balance between the inner self and the external world, between individuality and adaptation.
The collaboration with sound designer Elias Aronidis for the soundscape and the "voice" of the Protist, won the "Best Sound-Driven Work" award at SAT Fest 2024.
